Top stars Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Willow Smith and more have been spied in an an exciting editorial for Harper’s Bazaar‘s September’15 issue, which sees each celeb dressed as their favourite fantasy icons.
Lensed by photographer Jean-Paul Goude and styled by the mag’s global fashion director, Carine Roitfeld each star is pictured as their icons – Oprah as The Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz; Mariah as Marie Antoinette; Willow as Kali; 50 Shade of Grey actress Dakota Johnson as Aphrodite; model Rosie Huntington-Whitely as Diana Vreeland; singer Katy Perry as Elizabeth Taylor; actress Jessica Chastain as Joan of Arc; model Lucky Blue as Liberace; and Chris Lee as Coco Chanel.
As part of stylist Roitfeild’s “Icons” series, Willow explained her affinity with goddess Kali, saying;
“When I was little, I would go into my mom’s meditation room and read her books about goddesses. Kali stayed with me because she is terrifying yet beautiful.”
For Oprah;
“The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite spiritual tales, and Glinda is a spiritual goddess. I love when she says to Dorothy, ‘You’ve always had the power.’
That is the message for all of us: You’re born with it, you always have it. It doesn’t matter how many yellow brick roads you go down, it’s always right there in your heart.”
