French fashion designer Sophie Theallet, who has dressed First Lady Michelle Obama and seen her piece worn by reality TV star Kim Kardashian, tweeted an open letter clarifying why she’ll avoid Melania Trump, once she moves into the White House.

“As an independent fashion brand, we consider our voice an expression of our artistic and philosophical ideas. The Sophie Theallet brand stands against all discrimination and prejudice”, Theallet said in the letter.
“I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next first lady. I encourage my fellow designers to do the same”, said Theallet.
She is not the first designer to stand firm against the Trumps. Kaelen Haworth, known for her dressing Blake Lively and Elizabeth Banks, reported after the election results that proceeds from sales on her site would be given to associations contradicted by Trump including Planned Parenthood, Black Lives Matter, and Everytown for Gun Safety.
However fashion design legend Carolina Herrera thinks otherwise and says: “I think that in two or three months they’ll reach out, because it’s fashion. You’ll see everyone dressing Melania. She’s representing the United States.”
