After Phoebe Philo existed from Céline, we were uncertain about the brands future, as Phoebe had put in a lot of work and shown uniqueness in her creativity. That shoe was a big size to fill and it seems that Céline has found the perfect figure for that role.
Philo Phoebe was the creative director of Céline for 10 years and she finally took her big break in December 2017. The LVMH group did not just bring any creative on board but a creative who has previously worked in the LVMH Group.
Heddi Slimane was recently announced as the new ‘Artistic Creative and Image Director’ of Celine, Slimanee is not a newbie in the LVMH group, he had previously held TENURES at Dior Homme and Saint Laurent.
The 49 year old will see to all the collections produced by Celine, this would also go along his role in introduciong Couture, Men’s fashion and Fragrances. Slimane would commence his role as the artistic creative director in February 2018, this would lead to his first collection which would debut at Paris Fashion Week in September. According to LVMH ‘s CEO, Bernard Arnault,
Speaking of the appointment, Bernard Arnault, LVMH’s CEO said: “I am particularly happy that Hedi is back within the LVMH Group and taking the reins of our Céline Maison. He is one of the most talented designers of our time. I have been a great admirer of his work since we collaborated on Dior Homme, which he launched to global critical acclaim in the 2000s. His arrival at Céline reinforces the great ambitions that LVMH has for this Maison. Hedi will oversee and develop all creativity for both women’s and men’s fashion, but also for leather goods, accessories and fragrances. He will leverage his global vision and unique aesthetic virtuosity in further building an iconic French Maison.”
