Sacrifice! Power! And selflessness! Are some of the reasons why Moremi Ajasoro is a legend in the History of Yoruba people, in a time when women were care givers and comforters.
9 centuries later, the people of Ile-Ife have taken it upon themselves to honor Queen Moremi Ajasoro with an iconic initiative of house of Oduduwa an initiative of the Imperial Majesty, Oni of Ife, to host the first official cultural pageant in Africa.
The Auditions held last week Monday and Tuesday in Ile-Ife and our celebrity judges went through a thorough filtering process to narrow down the list of over 400 applicants, to 41 worthy contestants who will proceed to the next level.
The auditions which held at the palace of the Oni of Ife was filled with vibrant and hopeful young ladies between the ages of 18-25, who believe they have what it takes to become a modern representative of what Moremi Ajasoro represented in her time. The line looked almost endless as the contestants were briefed on the events of the day, before proceeding to register for their time with the judges.
Although some contestants came out of the auditions with a convincing believe that they have won the heart of celebrity judge Odunlade Adekola and his panel, some were certain that it was the end of the road for them.
The lucky 41, will proceed to the official house the pageant for a duration of two weeks, where they will be faced with challenges and royal tasks. The contestants will be tutored in the ways & skills expected of a future queen.
Candidates will have to learn diplomacy, master complex rules palace etiquette that have been in place for hundreds of years during their stay.
