For this week’s fashion Q&A, we caught up with Zara Okpara – the amazing stylist and PR genius behind the brand Jewel By Lisa.
Read on as she shares her latest endeavors with us, and to find out what she thinks about blogging…
SPICE: Hi Zara! What are you working on at the moment?
Zara: Currently I’m in charge of brand development and communications at Jewel by Lisa, while creatively consulting on varied projects – from fashion and TV production, to interior design.
What’s inspiring your creative universe presently?
I’m inspired by fashion photography. Recently, it’s seasonal designer campaigns; they always leave me with a desire to create. My favourite at the moment is the Prada S/S’14 campaign.
What trend would you like to stop already this year?
The idea of blogging. As weird as this sounds, I long for the days when fashion and the idea of fashion was less accessible and more aspirational.
What decade best describes your style?
None in particular. If I had to choose, I would say the 2000’s because they are a mélange of all decades, recycled. I have an easy and effortless approach to dressing so a lot of the pieces I enjoy wearing might come from different decades.
If you were a shoe, which would you be?
The Valentino Rockstud. It’s classic, feminine, but with a bit of an edge.
What can’t you leave home without?
My iPhone and MAC lipstick in “Taupe.”
What is your go-to travel outfit?
Jeans, a t-shirt, a blazer and a pair of converse or Chanel flats.
What’s currently on your reading list?
The Marriage Contract by Honore de Balzac.
What’s on your playlist for exercise?
Gospel band, Hillsong.
If you could raid anyone’s closet, whose would it be?
Lisa Folawiyo and Diane Kruger’s.
Finally, tell us one thing on your fashion wish list?
The Celine box bag.
