As he prepares to reveal his third collection with Adidas, “Yeezy Season 3” today in New York’s Madison Square Garden, rapper-turned-designer Kanye West has us already looking forward to “Yeezy Season 4”, which will apparently be a children’s line.
The outspoken talent has been super active on Twitter recently (feuding with fellow musician Whiz Khalifa, as well as revealing the seating plan, guest list and some of the clothes from the showcase), and said in a cryptic Tweet;
“Season 4 I’m only working on kid’s clothing…full time.”
Today will also see his 7th solo album, The Life of Pablo revealed to the world – premiering at Madison Square Gardens as well as being streamed on Tidal and broadcast in cinemas worldwide, with Kanye having also shared the thinking behind merging his two big-reveals, saying;
“It was always a dream to have a listening party at Madison Square Garden…
It was always a dream to show my collection at Madison Square Garden.”
Critics so far have remained split on Kanye’s fashion collections, and Mr West himself has expressed how hard it’s been for him to be taken seriously as a designer following his success in music and with his level of celebrity. But, while it’s unclear if he plans to retire from music to work on fashion full time, his Tweet about “Yeezy Season 4” does make sense, considering previous inspiration for his collections has come from fatherhood – West telling Andre Leon Talley that his last range was;
“…Definitely about being as relaxed as possible, and being able to swing my daughter around.”
Kanye has also recently become a dad of two, with his wife Kim Kardashian giving birth to Saint in December last year – a baby brother to the super stylish tot, North West.
The artist would also be joining the movement of designers and talents turning to kidswear design, with Olivier Rousteign recently revealing his collection of childrenswear at Balmain, and model Jourdan Dunn designing her own range for kids too.
While we at SPICE are looking forward to West’s musical and fashion drop today in New York, we’re already looking forward to “Yeezy Season 4” and how well Kanye’s take on style will manifest in childrenswear.
