Top fashion talent, Karl Lagerfeld is a man who gets around, being creative director at Chanel and Fendi, as well as being a famed photographer and having his own eponymous label – and while we’re thinking about ‘Movement’ this month online, the designer’s challenging you to spot his as he stars in a new book, Where’s Karl?
Inspired by Karl’s celebrity in the industry, co-authored by Stacey Caldwell (vice president of global wholesale at Thakoon) and Aji Riaki (a fashion writer and videographer), and illustrated by Brit Martin Handford, the book is a fun new take on the popular Where’s Wally? books, which calls for careful eyes to spot Wally and his famed stripy ensembles, amid a scenery of similar styling.
In Where’s Karl?, the landscape Mr Lagerfeld is hidden is has been tailored to suit his lifestyle, with readers tasked to trace him amongst the busy Met Gala in New York City and the Chanel Fashion Show at the Grand Palais in Paris, with Karl donning his signature monochrome ensemble, complete with gloves and ponytail.
With a few other famous fashion faces thrown in for good measure, like designer Riccardo Tisci and model Lily Aldridge, co-author Caldwell said of the book;
“That’s the real fun – you think you’re looking for Karl but you’re recognizing all these fashion people along the way.”
We at SPICE think this is a tome to while the hours away with – but you’ll have to move fast if you want it for your coffee table collection and perhaps pre-order, here, only the Where’s Karl? book is certain to attract collectors when it launches next month via Penguin Random House on September 15th.
