Kenyan Photographer Captures the “League of Extravagant Grannies”

Seems we’re not the only ones thinking all things ‘mother‘ this month, with Kenyan talent Osborne Macharia having revealed a stylish series of new photographs, capturing ex-goverment leaders and corporate high-flyers, dubbed “Kenya’s League of Extravagant Grannies.”

The images show the retired professionals post-flight and fashionably-styled, in reflection of their current jet-set lifestyles, with the photographer explaining;

“This is the story of Kenya’s League of Extravagant Grannies who were once corporate and government leaders in the 1970’s but… now live the retired high life travelling to exotic and remote areas within Africa to explore, party and enjoy in exclusivity.

Little is known about them till now….”

Styled and produced by Kevin Abbra, makeup by Valary Mdeizi and hair coiffed by Richard Kinyua, the shots look slick and serves as a reminder that those of grandmother or retiring age are not done with the high life yet.

But take a look at Osbourne Macharia’s shoot with “Kenya’s League of Extravagant Grannies” and tell us if you can imagine your mother, grandmother or yourself jet-setting in style like this, too.
