Top fashion platform, Lagos Fashion and Design Week is calling for new talents to take part in its Fashion Focus competition – a venture in partnership with the British Fashion Council, which aims to shine a spotlight on emerging creatives.
The initiative, which will see a winner announced following the Fashion Week, holding between October 28th and 31st, was announced by Style House Files – the platform and agency by LFDW founder, Omoyemi Akerele – and is calling for those with a passion and flair for design to enter for a chance to win a prize that could launch the career of Nigeria’s next top designer.
The winner will receive training via workshops and networking sessions with key industry professionals over the next year, as well as the opportunity to have their collection in exhibition during LFDW and later produced and sold via Grey Velvet.
Last year’s winner, Temitayo Nathan of menswear label T.I Nathan also received the opportunity to showcase as part of the International Festival in London this year, during London Fashion Week (more on that, here), where Nigeria won an award for ‘Best Curation.’
To enter, potential participants are asked to head here to submit an application for entry before the closing date of September 11th 2015, however there will be a series of open auditions taking place in Port Harcourt on the 14th of September, in Abuja on 15th and 16th, and Lagos on the 17th and 18th of September too.
We at SPICE look forward to seeing the successful applicants and the overall winner of Lagos Fashion and Design Week’s Fashion Focus competition in October.
