As we get ready for a second day of catwalks at the 2015 Lagos Fashion & Design Week, Team SPICE are recapping yesterday’s showcase, which brought fantastic things to think about for your wardrobe, seen backstage, on the Frow and on the ramp.
Here’s a little look at what (and who) we saw on Day 1 at the event – take a peek and then get ready for tonight’s second round of epic showcases.
Backstage
Backstage was bursting with colour (and pretty faces)
Models were seen relaxed and getting pampered
All hands on deck saw clothes being steamed, makeup being done and hair perfected…
…These two found time for a quick pre-show selfie
…Meanwhile, this male model got a quick trim
The usual pre-show chaos included many models and mascara wands
The backstage beauty was on point at Day 1 of LFDW…
The vibrant colours from Tiffany Amber’s “Marine” collection for Spring/Summer’16 had us dreaming about next season from the moment we saw it
Makeup talent Dave Sucre was spied working his magic backstage (see him talk you through your makeup look here in our Beauty Factory series)
SPICE TV‘s Esso Dike catching all the pre-show action backstage
Last minute touch-ups to this model’s look
We are all for details like this…
The calm before the storm

The Frow
There was a brilliant turn out to yesterday’s first round of showcases, these fabulous ladies reaping Poosh on the front row…
Media personality Bola Bolagun was spied having a great time
…As was designer Lisa Folawiyo
Fashion-loving entrepreneur, Noble Igwe was also seen well-styled and looking ready to admire the designs on the catwalk
….But Mr Igwe wasn’t the only dapper gent on the Frow, with blogger Fisayo Longe seen besides another well-dressed young man in a pink suit
Kelechi Amadi-Obi seen here with blogger Ezinne Chinkata, taking in the talent on the ramp
And blogger and fashion consultant Diana Opoti came in from Kenya for the event, seen perched with magazine editor Dimeji Alara on the front row
Naija’s top vlogger and photographer Yagazi Emezi was also seen on the Frow taking in the catwalk. See what she saw via her photo diary for SPICEhere

The Catwalk
Opening the show was Tiffany Amber’s “Marine” collection, which we are so ready to dive into next season
The designer seen here taking her finale bow
Models at Re Bahia (now known as Re) came out in fun colours and cute shapes
The designer’s signature cutout, leaf-like details were present for Spring/Summer’16 too
Label Luvita inspired us to go shopping, immediately
…And this is the ensemble we’ll be looking for
Traditional tie dye vibes walked the ramp at Zapel’s showcase
We applauded the designer so hard for her colourful work
POC’s show started with a bit of mystery…
…Before an army of monochrome things for men walked the ramp
We loved fun silhouettes from O’Milua
…And Maxivive had some interesting ideas for menswear for next season
Mo’Fari started out with some power-dressing in potent colours
…And ended with a bride
Our favourite label Grey gave us lots of looks to consider shopping for
As did Kinabuti with their “Rome” collection
We loved Sophie Zinga’s clean silhouettes and minimal palette
…The line consisted of white mainly, with vivd orange and a blue in the mix
Kenneth Ize brought men’s and womenswear to LFDW
Working with stripes and patchworked colour he really made an impression on the crowds
At Amede, there was a lot of fun going on with print and colour.
…Including the designer’s own ensemble, seen as she took her bow
For Funke Adepoju there were pretty hues and delicate details…
…From front to back
While Mi Le brought that signature quirk
…The lavish style of the label was seen throughout the entire collection
And lastly, Onwuchewkwa gave us good things for men to look forward to for next season
The palette dipped from strong red and monochrome to a prettier, pastel hue with flower appliqués that are so Spring-ready
Lots of things to be thinking about for next season – but first, we’ve Day 2 to crack on with.
