Following his London Fashion Week presentation in September, which brought a mix of diverse prints in vibrant colours, Nigerian designer Duro Olowu wows us with his Spring/Summer’15 collection lookbook and short fashion film packed full of clashed colours and prints.
According to the designer, the inspiration for his new range stems from a trip to the Senegalese island of Saint-Louis – a clear origin of the collection’s appliquéd, starched brocade, which supplied Olowu with ideas for the collection’s palette.
The celebrated talent also cited the cover art for an album by The Pointer Sisters, Japanese film noir in general and 1940s pinups as inspirations, which all leads to a marvellous, retro-fused range full of soft peplums, strong shouldered jackets and vivid florals.
For the lookbook, shot by Luis Monteiro, beautiful model Kinee Diouf was enlisted to make us want to wear each piece that much more, and there’s also an amazingly elegant film to entice you, too.
