Ethical Malawian brand, Mayamiko Designed has unveiled its 2014 collection via a fun lookbook, modelled by Algerian-British recording artist, Yadi.
The collection – a retro-fused range takes us back to the 70’s with its modernised African prints – sees striking dresses and coordinating separates, made from traditional ‘Chitenje’ fabrics, all sourced from the bustling markets of Malawi (Eastern Africa), alongside hand-dyed batiks.
Established in 2013, the Mayamiko Designed brand offers women’s clothing, accessories and home-wear, ethically made in Malawi and fusing together contemporary design with traditional African techniques. With a trust set up to help relieve poverty in Malawi, the MayamikoTrust is a British registered charity that provides locals with the necessary skills and education required to earn a decent living.
