Kenyan designer, Recho Omondi‘s namesake label, Omondi, is firmly on our radar, with an Autumn/Winter’15 collection that we’ve wanted ever since coming across its lookbook.
The New York-based womenswear designer, who cites her African heritage and NY lifestyle as inspiration, founded her brand back in 2013, creating garments with “modernity as it relates to the global, evolving woman” in mind.
Talking to Harper’s Bazaar of the Fall collection, which sees unusually-cut jumsuits and tops in soft hues like cream and lilac, Ms Omondi said;
“The colour palette was inspired by sunrise in the winter; those mornings when the cold cuts to the bone but the sky is so ethereal and enchanting.
It requires a lot of strength to survive winters, especially New York winters. Our girl this season carried that type of maternal, instinctive strength.”
See the lookbook below and tell us if you think Omondi’s Autumn/Winter’15 collection is as strong as we do.
