Lookbook: U.Mi-1’s S/S’15 “Sonnet” Collection

Nigerian menswear label U.Mi-1 has just unveiled its Spring/Summer’15 collection, inspired by Igbo culture and titled “Sonnet.”

To reflect the Igbo’s love of length, the range’s shirts and jackets have been designed longer, with the sashes typically worn by Igbo men transformed on the back of jackets and cleverly incorporated into Umi-1’s shirts. There are also matching waist-banded or draw string trousers designed to mimic Nigerian two-piece kaftans.

The collection is comprised of comfortable washed linens and cottons, and according to the label by Gozi Ochonogor, aims to serve “as a visual metaphor for Nigeria’s progression and affluence.”

We at SPICE love the lineup’s palette (especially the khaki green) and the styling of the lookbook, where leopard print sliders add a touch of freshness. But see what you think of U.Mi-1’s Spring/Summer’15 “Sonnet” collection, below;
