The film adaptation of Chimamanda Adiche’s second book, Americanah is to be lead by Hollywood actress and fashion hot-lister, Lupita Nyong’o.
The Kenyan star, who shot to fame after her role in 12 Years a Slave and her subsequent red carpet appearances, was tipped to act in the upcoming film, which author Adiche hinted at earlier this year, as we reported back in March, here.
The Nigerian’s second novel, Half of a Yellow Sun is currently playing in cinemas worldwide, but news of Luptia’s involvement in the next big screen adaptation of Chimamanda’s work has set the internet on fire, ever since Stylist Magazine broke the news last week via Twitter, saying;
“Lupita Nyong’o has optioned rights for the film version of Americanah, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie confirms #stylistbookclub“
The novel is an award-winning love story about a Nigerian couple who come into difficulties while living in the Diaspora, and we at SPICE can’t wait to see it.
