While we’re thinking all things ‘Fresh‘ for the start of 2016, we’re keeping a keen eye on the trends surfacing on the backs of our favourite stars, and thanks to Genevieve Nnaji, Omatola Jalade-Ekeinde, and the host of best-dressed celebs at the 2016 Golden Globes, our new must have is the cape.
While wearing a full-on cape might be a bit difficult to pull off (and leave one looking more super hero than superstar), cape-like details to dresses, blazers and tops will suffice – Nollywood star Genevieve being spied in a cape-like blazer to cover her all-black ensemble just yesterday, and Omatola rocking hers recently to break up her colour-blocked look for the Nigerian Stock Exchange’s closing ceremony last week.
Last night, a plethora of actresses donned the detail too, Taraji P Henson’s custom Stella McCartney piece; Jlo’s cape-back mustard gown by Giambattista Valli; Uzo Aduba’s cape-sleeve Talbot Runhof dress; Cate Banchett’s cape-like fringe gown by Givenchy; to Lily James and Saoirse Ronan white cape-back dresses, by Marchesa and Saint Laurent respectively.
Hence, our new must-have is the caped treats from Kelechi Anyadiegwu‘s Zuvaa Boutique, new Nigerian brand on the block Obeampeh Couture, plus Asos and more who all offer a caped creation or two.
