Mother of all Supermodels, Naomi Campbell has been tapped as the face of ANOHNI‘s new music video for “Drone Bomb Me” – art-directed by Givenchy designer, Riccardo Tisci.
This mash up of beautiful minds sees Ms Campbell shedding tears as she lip syncs to ANOHNI(aka Antony)’s song, which is inspired by tragedies in Iraq – the artist saying;
“It’s a love song from the perspective of a girl in Afghanistan; say, a 9-year-old girl whose family’s been killed by a drone bomb.
She is kind of looking up at the sky and she’s gotten herself to a place where she just wants to be killed by a drone bomb too.”
Though the lyrics are moving (“Blow my head off, explode my crystal guts, lay my purple on the grass”), it’s Naomi’s acting and stream of tears that bring the song to life, with video director Nabil having visuals split between the model’s performance amid an empty dance floor, and moves from a group of dancers.
Givenchy’s creative director, Mr Tisci’s involvement as art director follows previous collaborations between the designer and the singer/songwriter, who worked together on Givenchy’s Autumn/Winter’13 “Gypsy” collection and the label’s Spring/Summer’16 campaign.
Taken from the album Hopelessness (due out May 6th) we suspect this single ought to do well with Naomi Campbell’s backing – the model posting to her Instagram;
“I’m so happy to present the “Drone bomb me” video by @anohni and featuring Me. Directed by @nabildo with art direction by my dear @riccardotisci17 Go to @applemusic to watch and link in bio.”
