Petit Tribe – a “contemporary luxury childrenswear with an African heart” – has had an exciting week, having been invited to showcase at the Vogue Talent 2016 event in collaboration with Yoox.com, held in Milan, Italy.
The brand’s founder, Nigerian designer Olatoun Jolaoso – who established the label 4 years ago – journeyed to Milan for today’s event, with her label being the first childrenswear brand to ever participate.
The lineup of labels is carefully curated by the Vogue Italia and Yoox team, and the event aims to spotlight just 11 emerging talents with a showcase held at the Palazzo Morando, during Milan Fashion Week, where numerous fashion industry insiders in attendance.
Posting shots from the event to their Instagram page, the label revealed how Ms Jolaoso got to rub shoulders with the likes of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, and display her range of pretty, printed things to the industry’s top professionals, captioning;
“Our fabulous founder and CEO Olatoun Jolaoso at tonight’s @voguetalents alongside Franca Sozzani Vogue Italia, Frederico Marchetti founder of Yoox and Anna Wintour [of] American Vogue.”
Sara Maino, the senior editor at Vogue Italia and editor at Vogue Talents, said;
“Petit Tribe has a fresh vision of kidswear, bringing African tradition to modern daywear.”
Petit Tribe’s founder said of being selected;
