In this fashion era, more designers are springing up and more fashion entrepreneurs are diversifying into different sectors of the fashion industry. ONCHEK has recently debuted it’s first collection after being in the business of making African luxury items accessible to the world, the retail online store diversifies into its own clothing line.
Considering its stand already in the African fashion scene, it is no surprise that they chose to collaborate with top mens wear designer Orange Culture and Shem Paronelli of SHEM PARONELLI a footwear Artisanal, founded in the minimalistic philosophy. The collection which is called “Unity”, is a tribute to the Super Eagles, this is a story of collaboration, teamwork, and design.
This collection is the true definition of made in Nigeria by Nigerians for Nigerians, there is no greater joy than celebrating your mother land through clothes and shoes that speak volume and promotes unity, which is what this country really needs.
This collection celebrates Nigeria’s history, the sneakers were made from leather sourced in Nigeria and made by the best artisans, according to Shem, the sneakers are super comfortable “The take-off point was our already existing N-100 model. But we sought to re-imagine and approach it differently, drawing inspirations and ideas from a traditional soccer shoe. Every stage of this project was fun for me, from bouncing ideas with Mr. Chekwas on the direction to the hand-picking of best leathers (by the way these are so comfortable) down to the actual making of the sneakers. The energy throughout has been great.”
Asides from all the well tailored pieces in the collection, the editorial and story portrayed in the look book shows that these creatives pay huge attention to details. The entire collection is available to shop on ONCHEK.
This is our season of buying and wearing everything Nigerian, head to the world cup in style and the only way to do that, is to cop your self some of these Jerseys and sneakers.
