Orange Culture Launches Collaborative Line with Kene Rapu

Fast-rising Nigerian label, Orange Culture has launched a collaborative line with Kene Rapu – a Nigerian, footwear brand launched in 2011 that creates cool sandals for men and women.

Of how the collaboration came about – which see gorgeous, caged, gold and black gladiator sandals, re-imagined for daring men – Orange Culture’s founder and designer, Adebayo Oke-Lawal told SPICE;

“Kene and I have been friends for a bit now – a beautiful soul she is – and we have a lot of conversations about being young and starting businesses and surviving.

One day while chatting, we talked about creating a pair of slippers together as a light conversation …Before I knew it, we were discussing fabrics, doing sketches and it all became a quick reality!”

The 23-year-old also dished on the design process, saying;

“It was so much fun. I told Kene exactly what I  liked and she gave such valid input as to what would work best with the idea I had, and gave me a range of fabric choices. Through every stage of building the sample we discussed – from inches of platforms to shape and comfort – we both were a part of every process.”

The range is available to purchase on Konga.com from this week and the sandals will retail at N16, 300 – exciting news for us at SPICE, who have our eyes set on Mr Oke-Lawal’s favourite, with the talent telling us;

“The bronze ones are my favourite pair. Look at those shoes – don’t they just scream Orange Culture? Platforms, the fabric choice… Not that many menswear labels will be brave enough to attempt marketing au ham androgynous style to Nigerians and beyond.”

Grab a pair before Team SPICE and Adebayo steal them in your size.
