Pharrell Williams Launches New Fragrance, “Girl” with Comme des Garcons

Infamously smooth singer and producer, Pharrell Williams is launching a new fragrance, “Girl” with Comme des Garcons – the latest in the string of celebrity scents to be announced for fall.

The unisex fragrance, (uniquely dubbed considering it’s for guys too), named after Williams’ recent album, will launch next week on September 1st, and is a collaborative effort with the Comme des Garcons label, which Pharrell ‘fell in love with’ after smelling one of the brand’s scents on Colette’s creative director, Sarah Andelman.

The 41-year-old star told WWD;

“It was maybe four or five years ago at Art Basel — she gave me a hug, and I was like ‘What is that?’ and she told me, Wonderwood. And from that moment on I was just in love with what Comme [des Garçons] did.”

Pharrell went on to explain the reasoning behind the collaboration, saying;

“When I do a collaboration with brands, I do them with notable masters, so that I can experience the true purpose of collaboration, which is to learn. So I only work with masters.

We had the best nose in Paris, I was working with the best brand… so there was not much of a struggle, because I was working with the masters of the artistic universe.”

Of the fragrance – designed for both men and women – and its name, Mr Williams explained;

“There should be no lines — I learned that from Comme des Garçons. Hence, Girl — for girls and boys. We just found another way to say unisex.”

The woody scent (signature to Comme des Garcons) includes notes of neroli, lavender, iris and violet, as well as patchouli, cedarwood and sandalwood. It will launch in the UK next week before launching on Sept 5th throughout the US, retailing from $30-$135 depending on bottle size. We at SPICE can’t wait to get our hands on ours.
