After a slightly gloomy AMAAs red carpet report last week, celebrities have lifted our fashion spirits by stepping it up in brilliant stylish attires.
From Lupita Nyong’o in Alexander Wang and Dbanj in Okunoren Twins, to Naomi Campbell’s double dose of glam for her 44th birthday party, we’ve had a storm of amazing looks hit us from right across the globe – and you can see 10 of the best ones, below;
First off is supermodel Naomi Campbell who turned 44 with a stylish celebration in Monaco. Stepping out in a Givenchy sequin embellished dress and later changing into a Versace gown that fit her like a second skin, we are stuck for choice on our favourite, with both dresses looking sexy and baring a brilliant deep-plunging neckline. Next up is Nigerian-American actress Uzo Aduba who attended the Variety Studio in West Hollywood last week, wearing a white flare dress with contrasting neckline paired with black pointed pumps and wavy hair. We love the look, the smile and the pose here, which prove Ms Aduba knows her stuff.
After it was revealed she got the film rights for Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie‘s next film, Americanah, Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o stepped out on Saturday 31st May for the 7th annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic event, wearing an Alexander McQueen black and white printed dress, styled with diamond earrings, a black hat and matching shoes and bag. What’s not to love about Nyong’o’s love affair with print – and that hat? We just love how she keeps us guessing…
Carly Cushnie was also spotted at the same event, also in monochrome but, throwing on a white blazer, contrasting with her cutout LBD from Cushnie et Ochs and rocking gorgeous black triple strap sandals, she almost gave Lupita a run for her Hollywood money. #LoveThisLook.
In another black and white ensemble, media personality Fade Ogunro proved she knows how to show off her legs, which she did so well in a knee length wrap dress with a thigh-high cut for the ‘Road to Mamas: Lagos’ concert last Saturday in Lagos. We always enjoy what this star wears but she just slayed with those colour-pop sandals.
Another bold footwear boasting star of last week was MTV Base presenter, Stephanie Coker who rocked a white playsuit with black panel detailing. Stephanie paired her monchrome look with a bright blue pair of pumps that made her look just as memorable as the afore-mentioned Fade’s.
Woman of the moment and Maleficent star, Angelina Jolie has been making promotional appearances all over the world, serving us fabulous fashion at every stop. But, for the World Premiere in NYC, the star showed up in the hottest strapless leather-bustled gown by Atelier Versace, giving the look a final shot of edginess with a sleek ponytail and spiked stud jewellery to land a spot on our hotlist. We mean, that twisted skirt detail? #Wow!
For his red carpet arrival at the 2014 World Music Awards in Monaco, D’Banj rocked a dark brown velvet blazer from Nigerian designers The Okunoren Twins’ newest collection, which he teamed with dark blue trousers, brown suede shoes and his signature dark shades. If ever there was a way to do dapper on the carpet, this, fellas, is surely it.
Lucy Lui stepped out in a strapless, navy Carolina Herrera number with gold embroidery for the 2014 Hauding Awards in LA, looking simply stunning and timeless as ever. Here, the actress channelled modern day Disney princess with simple side-swept hair and classic jewellery, and we like what we see. Don’t you?
And lastly, actress Halle Berry also posed for the press at the 12th Annual Huading Film Awards in LA last week, giving good reason to remember why she is so loved. Looking chic, sleek and still ridiculously toned, the ageless beauty brought her fabulous body to the forefront with a thigh-high split and we just love the choice of asymmetric dress. Doesn’t take away from her gorgeous face though, does it.
