The transition from June to July kicked off with celebrities making fabulous appearances in stylish ensembles – and we at SPICE were watching.
From the 2014 BET Awards in the US to the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in London and the Fayrouz L’Original Expression Show in Lagos, we bring you the best that hit the red carpets with our top 10 looks;
Red has been pretty key on the carpets recently and our first lust-worthy look comes from Naomi Campbell, who attended the annual Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in a Givenchy Pre-Fall’14 fully-sequined dress, looking as stunning as you’d expect from a supermodel. We love the one-sleeve draped design of the dress plus the rose-gold sandals and bold lips it was accessorised with. #Wow.
British actress Gemma Arterton was another a lady in red at the same event, wearing a Prabal Gurung Resort’15 two-piece with red jacquard detailing. Featuring a cropped top and asymmetrical flounced tulip skirt, her all-red ensemble was completed by patent sandals with a cute ribbon tie, and we just love how chic the overall look is. Just lovely.
Singer Zendaya Coleman jumped onto the Pre-BET Awards Dinner on June 28th in Hollywood, rocking a bold Peter Pilotto Spring’14 dress that looked just delicious on her. The asymmetrical look was accessorised with stacks of gold bangles, hoop earrings and a matte red lip with matching pointed pumps – and we think she looked just perfect.
On the BET Awards red carpet on June 29th, Hollywood actress and new mum, Kerry Washington stunned in a floral Dolce & Gabbana dress with white Casadei heels. We love how fresh (despite the probable lack of sleep) and radiant Ms Washington looks in this outfit, and salute her for showing off her slim post-baby figure. #Flawless.
Doing it in chic noir, supermodel Cara Delevingne, who also stepped out for the Serpentine Galley Summer Party, repped Mulberry from head-to-toe with a black Mulberry Spring’14 sleeveless, keyhole column dress, styled with the brand’s “Cara Delevingne” bag, of course. And doesn’t she look amazing? It’s to be expected, but still..
For her breakfast with Ituen Basi at the Wheatbaker Hotel on Thursday, 3rd July, media personality Tracy Nwapa paired her printed pencil skirt with a black halter neck and killer pointy heels with straps that matched the pattern of her skirt. We love the attention to detail and the daring colours of the look.
And actress Naomie Harris was seen at a launch party to celebrate Virgin Atlantic’s new Vivienne Westwood uniform collection, wearing, well, Vivienne Westwood! Naomie styled the Spring’14 Gold Label dress with a black Rauwolf Clutch and pretty pink Casadei pumps, which stole the show and our hearts, instantly.
Over at the Fayrouz L’Original Expression Show held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos on July 6th, TV presenter Zainab Balogun kept it simple in CLAN. The muted palette showed off Ms Balogun’s beautiful complexion and the classic points, halter neck style and sash detail adds an elegance that suits her to a tee.
Media personality, Toke Makinwa hosted the Fayrouz L’Original Expression Show red carpet, wearing a Frock It, Rock It dress with a fierce, squinned print. Looking like a million bucks, Ms Makinwa certainly brought it…
And inside, OAP Mercy Ajisafe (a.k.a Omo London) was chic in AGU for the event, pairing her long-sleeved lace dress with simple strappy shoes in this season’s trendy metallic. #Amazing.
So that’s all for this week’s rundown of the red carpet – but if there’s a look we’ve missed, do tell us below in the comments or on Twitter via @SPICETVAFRICA. Otherwise, see who’s turned our heads with their style next week…
