After the extravaganza that was the 2014 MET Gala, many of last week’s events had celebrities outdoing themselves with their wardrobes and being spotted in an array of stylish looks.
And, from Rihanna in head-to-toe Dior to Sarah Jessica Parker in another to-die-for Oscar de la Renta look, we’ve the very best ensembles in our roundup of last week’s well-dressed stars. See them, here;
First up is fashion’s finest, Sarah Jessica Parker. We loved the star’s brilliant ball gown look for the 2014 MET Gala, but are just as in love with the way she followed it up with a Spring’14 Oscar de la Renta tweed coat, on top of a floral printed, blue velvet dress punctuated with ivory satin heels and gold jewels. In a word: Stunning! This lady can do no wrong with her wardrobe.
Another fashion killer is our favourite good girl gone bad star, Rihanna, who posed in one of her more ‘tame’ looks in a pink ruffle-hemmed silk dress from Christian Dior, for the label’s Cruise’15 show. Looking ultra feminine, Ri paired her dress with a pair of colour-blocked pumps, a Spring’14 Dior handbag and statement jewellery from the French fashion house. And doesn’t she look flawless?
Spied at Maybelline’s Find Your Shade event in Lagos last week, actress, model and TV presenter Zainab Balogun looked radiant in a silk, cream jumpsuit. Skimming her figure perfectly, the star looked ridiculously beautiful.
Another gorgeous star who’s always on our radar, singer Jennifer Lopez stepped out looking sultry in a red Bec & Bridge dress and nude Christian Louboutin pumps for last week’s filming of American Idol. Taking a minute to pose on the red carpet, Ms Lopez showed off her hot body (those legs? #Wow) and proved she still knows how to strut her stuff.
After her dramatic MET Gala look, the queen of quirks and Essence Magazine cover girl, Erykah Badu shined in silver at Essence’s Journey to Beautiful dinner, held in New York City. We don’t know what she has in her pocket, but we can see that she’s quite a selection of accessories in her jewellery box and we love the huge Pharrell-like hat. As always, the star looked supadupa fly.
Soon-to-be Mrs West, Kim Kardashian served mid-20th century bride at the USC Shoah Foundation’s Anniversary Gala, wearing a white Balmain Blazer, Alexander McQueen blouse and long Lanvin skirt. Not quite flattering for her shape, this look landed Kim a spot on our list because we love the refinement of the ensemble and the fact that she took a risk.
British singer Rita Ora showed off her long legs with a thigh high slit on the red carpet of the 2014 Gabrielle Gala, wearing a glamorous Emilio Pucci Pre-Fall’14 gown with cinched waist. The “RIP” singer continued killing it with her sweet suede and PVC sandals by Jimmy Choo, bombshell blonde curls and her signature raging red lips. #LoveIt.
Haitian actress Garcelle Beauvais attended The Helping Hand of Los Angeles Mother’s Day Luncheon on Friday 9th May, in what could’ve passed for designer garms but was actually pieces from highstreet store Zara. With wide legs, a high waist, white pointy pumps and a tri-coloured tote, Ms Beauvais looked utterly chic. We’re off to see if her look’s still available to buy in stores…
Fashion mogul Tyra Banks looked appropriately flawless for the 2014 Flawsome Ball, wearing a bronzed strapless dress by Filipino designer Francis Libiran, which complimented her figure with its low cut and fishtail shape. We were definitely impressed with the combination of Tyra and this dress.
And last on our list is model Chrissy Teigen who also attended the Flawsome ball, looking lovely as a lady in red, wearing a Blumarine strapless, draped gown and simple strappy sandals. We love it when Chrissy steps out demure and her ‘less is more’ approach to accessorising really paid off, bringing attention to her beautiful face.
So that’s it from the red carpet this week, guys – these were the stars who brought it best. But, if you think there’s a look we might’ve missed, do share it with us below or tell us about it via @SPICETVAFRICA and the hashtag #RedCarpetRoundup.
