From Chiwetel Ejiofor in Nigeria for the premiere of Half of a Yellow Sun, to Lupita Nyong’o and Rihanna at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, last week was one of pure style.
Here’s our weekly roundup of the best dressed from the last seven days – a top ten list of those who really had heads a-turning;
First on the list is Oscar winner, Lupita Nyong’o who led the stars in a million colours at the MTV Movie Awards. The Kenyan actress showed her red carpet prowess as she took a risk in a bold printed Chanel dress, teamed with baby blue pumps with red heels, Vita Fede jewellery and silver eyeshadow. The girl never steps a two-toned shoe out of place and we are in love with her every choice.
Over in Lagos, Chiwetel Ejiofor was a perfect gentleman in blue at the premiere of Half of a Yellow Sun, and those who were lucky enough to see him up close will truly appreciate how good he looked in this suit.
Safe to say blue was the shade of choice for the stylish attendees at the HOAYS premiere, because at the same event, fast rising Nollywood actress, Naya Amobi also rocked the colour via an Isi Atagamen dress, which fit so well, we couldn’t help but have it on our list.
Back at the MTV Movie Awards, Jessica Alba kept things playful and chic in a lemon high-waisted Kenzo skirt, paired with a tiny white strapless crop top by Piece D’anarchive. And those black and white patterned Jimmy Choo court shoes? How could we not have noticed them. #Love.
Shailene Woodley’s shoes also stole our hearts and left the star looking gorgeous on the carpet at the MTV Awards. Complimenting her shoes in a khaki leather outfit with knotted top and high-waisted skirt, the young actress proved she knows how to dress and how to pick a heel…
Back in Lagos and next on our list isauthor Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie,who looked absolutely beautiful in an off-shoulder flowing dress that she paired with a little accessorising. What better way to celebrate the launch of your book’s film adaptation, than with a spot of elegant dressing?
Showing us how to do uber glam though, is supermodel Naomi Campbell, who – together with her ‘fro – was perfection at the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards event, wearing a black and gold animal print dress and gold accessories. What’s not to love about the look? Naomi, as expected, nailed it.
And John Legend’s beau and model, Chrissy Teigen also wowed, choosing a shapely strapless mini-dress designed by Ulyana Sergeenko for the MTV Movie Awards. Pairing her cute dress with black patent Christian Louboutin pumps and Shylee Rose jewellery, Teigen looked hot and adorable, all in one outfit.
But stepping out straight hot (who needs cute, anyway?) was queen of all things raunchy, Rihanna, who brought boudoir vibes to the red carpet with a white satin Ulyana Sergeenko dressing gown, worn over a matching bustier. Sultry and sexy, Riri did not disappoint or leave anyone who looked at her less than a drooling mess. #HubbaHubba
And, last on our list is – you guessed it – Lupita Nyong’o (again), who unsurprisingly stepped out looking amazing for the GLAAD Media Awards. While her dress isn’t as special as the one she wore to the MTV Awards that same weekend, the star nailed it with her fun accessories – especially with the Grace Jones ring from Leroy’s Place that we are now on a mission to own…
