Last week was jam-packed with events, from the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to Vogue’s MET Gala and TIME Magazine’s Time 100 Gala in New York City.
The world’s most stylish ladies came out looking amazing in their frocks, fresh with springtime prints and colours, but with only space for 10 on our best dressed list, you’ll have to read on to see who nailed it…
Starting with a look from the 2014 MET Gala and it’s couture-themed celebration of Charles James, Sarah Jessica Parker took well to the white tie dress code and stole the spotlight in an ivory ensemble by Oscar de la Renta and long diamond-embellished gloves – a definite show-stopping moment and our favourite look from the event.
Doing a 180 and going for a casual look, over at the Mayweather Vs. Maidana Pre-Fight Party, presented by Showtime at MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Khloe Kardashian was seen looking luxe, lounging in soft, feminine hues that have a moreish effect on her figure. We love this relaxed look on Khloe.
Back to glamour, Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Okoro made the ’60s look so cool at the VGMA’s in Ghana on Saturday and we are loving everything – from her hair to her sequinned optical illusion dress.
But Lawyer, TV presenter and one of Ghana’s most loved fashionistas, Sandra Ankobiah was our best dressed at the VGMAs. She kept her hair, makeup and accessorising simple, so as not to distract us from the decadent detail and silhouette of her dress. #Clever
Lupita, who was at the White House for dinner last week, was spotted in polka dots by Oscar de la Renta, with a gown that bore a peplum and skin tight bodice. As usual this actress oozed class and we love that though the dress appears classic, she had fun by opting for bright lips.
Nollywood actress, Omotola was a lady in red at the Time 100 Gala red carpet on Tuesday, 29th of April, wearing a bold dress with monochrome detailing. We like the cut-out sleeves of Iconic Invanity’s design and how she accessorised her look with drop earings, black bracelets, chic ponytail and neutral lips. #Perfect.
Supermodel, Namoi Campbell stepped out in fun fur for Fendi’s London store opening on May 1st, looking every bit the unrivalled beauty she is. Her makeup is always so striking and those legs? They go on forever, especially with her clever choice of strapless shoe.
Also in London, Ethopian model Malaika Firth went simple for the Harrods Pradasphere exhibition launch on 30th April, wearing details that just scream ‘exquisite.’ Satin shoe? Check. Decadent fringing? Double check. Do we love it? Three thumbs up.
Zoe Saldana was seen at AOL’s New Fronts event in New York on April 29th, wearing a dress from Roksanda Ilincic’s Autumn/Winter’14 collection, paired with Christian Louboutin heels. Stunning just doesn’t cover it.
And finally, Ugly Betty star America Ferrera was spotted embracing Spring’s 2014 rainbow trend in a multicolored confetti dress by Givenchy, at the 29th annual Lucille Lorte Awards. We absolutely love how she opted to give her look yellow accents, pairing her dress with a thin belt, Jimmy Choo pumps and a Jimmy Choo candy print box clutch – a set of accessories we’re seriously considering stalking her down for…
So that’s it from this week, guys – these were the girls who brought it. But if you think there’s a look we might’ve missed, do share it with us below or tell us about it via @SPICETVAFRICA.
