Last week saw fun and fabulous events happening around the world, bringing the stars out in the best of stylish garms.
Here, we’re rounding up the most head-turning looks that caught our eye for their attention to the season’s trends – including looks from rising star Zendaya, Kim Kardashian and Tinie Tempah;
Even though she wasn’t in the movie, singer Ashanti stepped out looking youthful for the Think Like A Man Too premiere at the Black Film Festival in ??, Wearing a white cutout jumpsuit from Olclay Gulsen and matching Tom Ford pumps, the star accessorised with a $1,307 Emilio Pucci embellished clutch and worked Spring/Summer’14’s head-to-toe white trend to a tee. #LoveIt.
And Kim K went a similar route, serving it hot in a white roped and beaded Balmain A/W’14 gown for the Cannes Lion Daily Mail Film Festival. Mrs Kardashian-West turned heads with her figure-fitting dress and wore her hair pulled back, showing off her beauty from top-to-toe, too.
Working it in the season’s metallic trend though, is Jessica Alba who attended the Magnum Golden Butterfly Awards in Istanbul, donning a gorgeous strapless gold Romona Keveza Spring’14 mermaid gown. Keeping her figure-hugging dress simple with a Jenny Packham “Belle” clutch with geometric embellishments, the actress complemented both her dress and earrings, and we at SPICE love it.
Orange is the New Black actress, Uzo Azuba who won the award for Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series on her night out, was spotted in a golden vintage dress and House of Lavande jewellery at the 2014 Critics Choice TV Awards. The star also rocked her famous smile – which was probably a smile of joy knowing she’d ticked off S/S’14’s metallic trend with ease.
The print pleasers…
Diane Kruger – a star well-known for her flawless style – looked uber pretty in a multi-coloured floral print Elie Saab number, which she wore to the 2014 Critics Choice Television Awards. The dress, adorned with sequins and pastel blossom, worked the season’s embellishment and floral trend perfectly, so Diane’s choice of gown certainly paid off.
Making a second appearance on our list is ultra trendy Jessica Alba, seen her on the set of FOX TV’s FOX & Friends. Keeping her look simple, feminine and light, Ms Alba swore a $96 Topshop tropical print midi skirt, which she paired with a bright blue top. Prints from the tropics are all over the place for S/S’14, and stylish Jessica showed her’s off well.
And Chinese actor, Raymond Lam attended the Burberry Prorsum show during the London Collections: Men S/S’15 on June 17, looking laid-back yet formal in a blazer and brogues. Getting into the printed look for the season, Mr Lam wore a long scarf tucked inside his jacket, putting a spin on the trend that we at SPICE applaud.
Sports superstar Serena Williams headed to the WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party in Kensington Roof Gardens, London on June 19th, wearing a Burberry trench coat as a dress, paired with black pointed courts for the event’s red carpet. Tciking off the season’s monochrome trend, the tennis pro looked great and we appreciate her risk-taking look.
Heading to 106 & Park, rising singer Zendaya Coleman wore S/S’14’s pastel trend well with an Alexia Ulibarri sweater dress, which she styled with a pair of “So Kate” Louboutins and gold bracelets. The relaxed fit of the dress, together with the severe points of her shoes, took this ensemble to edgy heights and we love this twist on the trend.
And lastly, we have the new face of mens fashion, Mr Tinie Tempah, who looked super stylish at GQs closing dinner event during the London Collections Mens S/S’15 shows. Rocking pastels like no other man could, Tinie looked pretty major and we at SPICE love a guy that knows his trends…
So that’s it – the top 10 on-trned looks that caught our eye this week. But, if we missed any, do share them with us in the comments box below or tag us on Twitter or Instagram using @SpiceTVAfrica.
