As we continue thinking about celebrations here at SPICE this December, stars from all over the world are giving us good reason to celebrate their wardrobes, stepping out at the best events in their best styles and wowing us with what they wear.
From Lagos to London and LA, last week saw a battle over who had the most stunning, flowing gown – and we at SPICE were watching. Take a look at our 10 best looks;
First up, singer Ashanti, who attended the 2014 Nascar Awards last week, was spied in a jaw-dropping black Michael Costello number that showed off her enviable hourglass figure. We loved the centre-parted hair and that plunging neck detail…
A former Miss World (2009) was also seen looking flawless, judging the 2014 Miss World competition which took place in London, and looking effortlessly stunning in a floor-length, purple dress by MEENA. The star kept her hair sleek and bore sultry makeup that included smokey eyes and nude lips. For us, the elegance was in the details: the embellishment on the dress and her well-coiffed beauty look.
Actress Uru Eke attended the ?? in a mixed and matched polka dot ensemble, which featured a flowing skirt and loose-fit blouse. We at SPICE loved this look, which the star completed by rocking her hair pulled back for some simplicity against the print of the outfit. Nice!
In one of our favourite looks of the week, and after rocking a risque Channel O ‘Music Video Awards’ outfit, singer Seyi Shay attended the AMVCAs nominations party in a lovely tie-dye, off-shoulder Amede jumpsuit. Her cleopatra-inspired hair ‘do is definitely a keep and we’d do anything to steal her outfit! Love this!
Next up, accessorizing her long and deeply-plunged, wine-hued dress with a decorative brooch, Vampire Diaries star, Kat Graham sizzled ion the red carpet for Rihanna’s first annual Diamond Ball Benefit. Delicate sandals would have complimented her look better, but we still liked what we saw.
Kim Kardashian also attended the event and it would seem she thought to out-nude Rihanna! Wearing a fishnet-inspired, semi sheer outfit from Alexander Wang for Balenciaga, the reality star looked edgy but still managed to stay sleek in a smooth black palette and long, caped blazer.
But, as the lady of the night, Rihanna was a total bombshell in her lush rose-coloured Zac Posen gown, with off-the-shoulder detail. Paired with a diamond necklace, a matching ring and stud earrings, as well as a ruby cuff, the star looked a million dollars, but her slicked-back ponytail and deep berry lips truly had her looking beautiful. Rihanna’s accessorising, hair and makeup was the show!
Showing off her hot, toned legs in a knotted, asymmetrical dress was Mrs Carter aka Beyonce, who showed up like this to the Billboard Women in Music 2014 celebration. The merlot coloured dress was complimented with brown, peep-toed sandals from Gucci and a couple of chunky bangles on her wrist. The look was simple, yet so stylish!
Back in Lagos, Nigeria, media personality, Toke Makinwa went all black for the Harvard Business School Dinner which took place in Ikoyi, and then headed for the AMVCA nominees party in a crop top and high waisted skirt by Nigerian designer, April by Kunbi. We at SPICE think this look has the edge though, with the gown doing her lovely figure justice.
And lastly, actress Aisha Tyler went for purple at the Portrayals of Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math event last week, sporting a sleeveless top and pencil skirt in the hue, anchored with pointed, black pumps. The sheer glossiness of the star’s hair and the radiance of her skin is what makes this look so chic. #Gorgeous!
