As the new month of October is underway, red carpets have been rolling out in style all over the world, with celebrities making television appearances, premieres, photo-calls and launches, and hitting events everywhere in the usual well-dressed manner.
From sultry dresses and LBDs to colourful, printed ensembles, we at SPICE saw it all last week, and here’s 10 of our most favourite looks;
Media Personality/Model, Zainab Balogun attended the Bovi Man on Fire event last week, bringing the heat in a vibrant, jungle-print twinset. We love how the star managed to make shorts and a tee look so chic on the red – sorry, blue – carpet, and we can’t decide if we love the lace edges on the short-suit or Zainab’s smile more….
Yvonne ‘Vixen’ Ekwere was also spied at the event, bringing vintage glamour to the blue carpet in an all-white skirt-suit and matching accessories. The wrap-front blazer, the big curls… We just loved it all.
“Wow” is the only word we can use to describe Zimbabwean actress, Danai Gurira’s ensemble, which she rocked to The Walking Dead’s Season 4 premiere last week, stunning onlookers and lenses everywhere. Wearing a Christian Siriano striped frock, emboldened with a structural skirt, the starlet played the look just right, using solid accessories to punctuate the outfit, including a bronze Rauwolf clutch, berry-hued peep-toes and H.Stern jewels. Just lovely, no?
And stunner Christina Milian (where has she been!?) got glammed up for Latina Magazine’s Hollywood Hot List party, held at Sunset Tower on October 3rd. Wearing a slinky red column-fit gown with a plunging neckline and knee-high slit, the star added a touch of quirk via her kitsch, cartoon-faced clutch, and harked back to her music video days via cornrows and a hefty pair of hoops.
A stylish and pregnant Zoe Saldana attended the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Hollywood costume party, wearing a comfortable-looking yet striking Christian Dior Autumn/Winter’14 gown and strappy heels. We at SPICE particularly like the brigh pink trapeze skirting with rise-and-fall hemline, and how the look was finished with a Dior clutch and metallic Louboutins. Such a stylish mother-to-be!
Diane Kruger sported a sexy, lacy mini to the same event, showing off her pins and her taste in shoes via these lace-up, monochrome booties. Everything was toned down with the addition of a simple black blazer, but though the styling was seriously on-point (typical of Ms Kruger) there was a touch of fun at play, with the box clutch nodding to the event’s Hollywood host.
Victoria’s Secret model, Selita Ebanks looked a pretty picture in her gorgeous, textured gold dress by Chloe, which she rocked to The New Yorkers For Children Gala. From head to toe, this looked screamed style and there is nothing we don’t just dote on. Top marks Ms Ebanks – you’re firmly on our list of favourites.
And, spotted at the same event, Grammy winner and songstress Estelle looked amazing in an Oscar de la Renta gown and black courts. It seems as though the star has undergone a bit of a style make over of late, with Estelle making chic appearance after chic appearance in The States – to the point we can’t wait to see what she dons next. #NewFavouriteFashionistaToFollow.
On October 4th, Zoe Kravitz slipped on a black satin Michael Kors gown and a choker, and attended the Michael Kors launch of Claiborne Swanson Frank’s Young Hollywood event in Beverly Hills. The daughter of Mr Cool himself, Lenny Kravitz, has definitely inherited the too-cool-for-school gene, with everything she touches becoming covetable in an instant. We are now in search of our own slip dress and will be getting a full head of braids, asap…
And lastly, Grammy-nominated singer Ledisi was spied looking a total doll on the red carpet, wearing a floral printed midi dress and pointed courts. The star looked so adorable, we couldn’t keep her from our list – and those deep red pumps? We want to steal them for our own wardrobes for Fall…
