Think of Rick Dusi and the first words that come to mind are clothes geared to a man’s needs for the ultimate comfort every man deserves. If you thought for a moment that only ladies were allowed to look dap and dress to the nines then you thought wrong. Nigerian Indigenous contemporary men’s wear brand ‘Rick Dusi’ debuts its capsule collection “THE CONVERSION” for Spring/Summer 2018. The handsomely handcrafted generously cut suits were tailored to fit a man who wants to look sharp, sophisticated and dynamic. We thought our personal favorite was the white one button blazer and pants, it appeared we thought wrong when we set our eyes on the blue blazer that looked like a drench coat, and it reminded us of the perfect prince charming on his special day. We had a mini interview with the Creative Director of the brand, Eromosele Patrick Eidusi, See Interview below.
- When did you start your brand?
I started my brand in the year 2015. I didn’t set out in becoming a designer; as a matter of fact I am a Graduate of Geophysics from Benson Idahosa University. The journey started by my falling Into Chance, with the opportunity of interning with Lagos Fashion and design week.
- What inspired you to start a men’s wear brand?
It all started from loving clothes especially well tailored bespoke pieces, My passion in helping the average man that doesn’t take the extra time to focus on what they put on or simply doesn’t have the time nor Knowledge to execute their vision on how they want to look and also I wanted to be one of the many people putting African Fashion on the world map.
- How did you come with the name for the Collection?
The name came about by my conscious effort in thoughts, in picking up different elements from different fashion eras.
- What is the inspiration behind the Collection?
The collection was inspired by an imaginary conversation between different epochs of menswear fashion especially the delicate art of suiting and how it has evolved and communicated with each other in time and through time.
- Where do you envision your brand in the near future?
To be able to present the brand (itself) globally across several fashion platforms. Be part of the World class of Masters Tailors, owing a big retail outlets in Lagos and also globally. Lastly the Go-to designer for standout menswear, with the aim to incorporate the authentic Savile row heritage and craftsmanship in every suit the brand produces.
- Last words from the creative Director?
“Don’t be into trends. Don’t make Fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.” – Gianni Versace.
