Kick starting this month’s theme of Motherhood here at SPICE, comes the news that Rihanna – undisputedly one of the most stylish women alive – holds her Mum responsible for her taste, sharing that she has served as her style inspiration for years.
While the star seems to have effortlessly mastered the art of risk-taking fashion, even becoming a muse to high fashion designers like Olivier Rousteing of Balmain, Rihanna told Glamour Magazine:
“My love for fashion – let me say, my admiration for fashion – started with my mom. I used to watch her get dressed. She was around my age right now, and she was so fly. I remember not even knowing how to do that because I was such a tomboy.”
The star also went on to say that, as far as celebrities are concerned, top of her best-dressed list would be Nicole Richie, but:
“You know who is the best who ever did it? Princess Diana. She was like – she killed it. Every look was right. She was gangsta with her clothes. She had these crazy hats. She got oversize jackets. I loved everything she wore.”
Well, whoever else she admires style-wise, we at SPICE are sure Riri’s mum will be proud to know she’s top of the star’s thoughts for inspiration – especially since Rihanna regularly tops most best-dressed lists the world over. Ours included.
