Following months of flaunting it on the label’s front row and in the footsteps of stars like Natalie Portmant and Jennifer Lawrence, mega bae Rihanna has just been announced as the a new face of Dior – the first ever black ambassador to front a campaign for the brand – having scored herself a spot in the brand’s infamous Secret Garden campaign.
Set to star in a film that’ll see Rih wondering the beautiful grounds of Palace of Versailles, the beauty told MTV of her feat;
“It feels fantastic. It is such a big deal for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls of any colour.
I think, to be acknowledged by Dior is just… it means a lot as a woman to feel beautiful, and elegant, and timeless.”
Previous installments have starred Dior girls like Melissa Stasiuk and Xiao Wen Ju, and have been shot by the talented Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin (see a sneak of Rih’s recent fashion film with the duo, here), but this fourth installment will be shot by noted photographer Steven Klein, whose work regularly has us in chills.
The new Secret Garden campaign is said to be scheduled to run this season, both in print as well as film, and we at SPICE can’t wait to see the outcome, with Rihanna’s campaign for Dior sure to be the best (read: hottest, most history-making) one yet.
