So Bad gal Rihanna has made headlines again, stopping our fashion hearts with a new rumour that she’ll be putting music on hold (what, no R8 album yet?) to focus on fashion.
The singer, who has fronted campaigns for Dior (see that here) and Balmain, been made 2014’s ‘Fashion Icon of the Year’ by CFDA, titled creative director of Puma and collaborated with highstreet retailer River Island, is no stranger to the fashion industry – just last week announcing yet another collaboration with Egyptian jewellery designer Jacquie Aiche (see her line amazing body tattoos with the singer, here).
But reports that Rihanna will be making big moves into the world of style seem to be more than just rumours, as according to Grazia Magazine, the star has applied for a US patent and trademark for a new brand called $CHOOL KIlls – under the category of ‘leather products’ and ‘clothing products.’
Grazia also reported that the accessories label (yay, bags by Rih!) will begin with leather totes before developing into a full-blown clothing brand, a source telling the mag;
“She still loves the music, and it’s what launched her, but this is her focus right now.” “Rihanna has already had a successful clothing line with River Island and is not limiting herself to just music and touring for the rest of her life.
She will continue to release singles and albums, but she’s had plans in place to expland in other areas like fashion, for a good few years now.“
Further rumours circle that the 27-year-old will also be taking a leap into the world of magazines, with an eponymously-named one centred on style said to drop sometime soon.
For now, we at SPICE will be looking forward to Rihanna’s new career in fashion and whatever she plans to sneak-release on us from her accessories label, $CHOOL KIlls – but tell us what you think to Rih’s change of path in the comments box below or online @SPICETVAFRICA.
