Nigerian androgynous fashion complete, ‘Morafa’ has unleashed it’s unapologetic nature with its latest collection titled ‘Sauciety’ for its Spring/Summer 2017 campaign. The collection highlights metallics on straightforward, convoluted and elaborated items for both genders and represents people that want to create a daring statement within the society through their fashion and elegance.
In this collection, Morafa looks to dress the trendy day man and woman in well-structured jackets and dresses. The collection has been created with unconventional luxurious materials, as well as damask, wool, sequin, velvet and the label’s signature rare use of laces as elaborations.
‘Seun Morafa’ the Creative Director for the brand has disclosed his inspiration behind the ‘Sauciety’ collection, attributing it to ‘Black Panthers of the 60s’.
Seun Morafa said;
“The Black Panthers of the sixties, originally the Black Panther party for self-defense, was an African-American revolutionary party founded in 1966. The glory days when men and women walked around with so much confidence and their fashion was as iconic as their movement. The dawn of a new era, the rise of the new cool black, an era of creativity and visually celebrating true blackness, an era when black was poetry, the black panthers made us realize how powerful being Black is, worthy of imitation and praise”.
‘Sauciety’ depicts the dawn of a brand new era as well as the rise of the new cool black.
