While Team SPICE are on all things ‘Movement’ this month on the site, it seems social media is conjuring one up of its own – this time, calling for MAC to create a collection in collaboration with the late and great R’n’B songstress, Aaliyah Haughton.
The “Rock the Boat” singer, who tragically passed in 2001, has been seen photoshopped onto faux campaign imagery for the fantasy line, which fans of the star are rallying (retweeting) to see come into fruition, along with a collection inspired by her famously fierce beauty looks – Aaliyah having been known for having fun with her makeup, which she always wore with sleek, side-parted locks and her tomboyish ensembles.
A Twitter account and an online petition has been set up to advocate for the MAC collection, which comes just weeks after the brand launched the Selena x MAC collection (more on that, here) for fans’ call to action, with the hashtag #AaliyahForMAC also amassing support from Aaliyah’s millions of supporters – over a 1000 of which have signed the petition hoping to get MAC to produce the makeup line.
And it’s not just fans of the singer wishing the collection to be created, with Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton said to have approved the idea, reporting that the singer loved MAC’s products.
