Last week, SPICE’s second edition of Runway Fiesta was held in style at the Federal Palace Hotel, Ballroom in Victoria Island, presenting a glittering line up of Nigeria’s finest design talent and artists.
Guests arrived well-dressed for the occasion and set for the black carpet, with drinks pouring as courtesy of sponsors Amarula and excitement brewing for an exclusive showcase by 10 amazing designers: Grey, Kenneth Ize, Wana Sambo, Kinabuti, Mi-Le, Kola Kuddus, Ifeanyi Nwune, Kamokini, Moofa and Tzar .
Each designer presented a strong new collection on the night, with models flawlessly made up by M.A.C Cosmetics (the official make up sponsors of the show), and music performed live by a show-stopping act from some of Nigeria’s finest musical talents, including Bez, Temi Doll Face, Muna, Saeon, Orezi, Tekno, Jaywon, Jo El, King Zamir, Oritse Femi and Selebobo.
With the night of fashion and music concluding as a complete success, if you weren’t there you almost missed out – save for the fact that you can catch the event when Runway Fiesta Season 2 premiers on SPICE, DSTV channel 192 this October.
In the meantime, check out some of the event highlights via the pictures, below;

Ozinna Anumudu of StyleVitae & Designer, Bubu Ogisi of iamISIGO were in attendance, looking fresh and on-point with their style as always

Everyone was caught mingling off the black carpet, before taking their seats for the show

…While backstage, MAC Nigeria – the official makeup sponsors for Runway Fiesta – readied models’ faces

A team that prays together, succeeds together: Muna and designer, ?? of Moofa said a quick prayer before heading out for the show

It was clear everyone that was invited knew their way around a wardrobe; the style from guests on the night was incredible

And fashion’s youngest expert, Prince Estavan and Jay Chikezie of Capo Capa Entertainment were also spied front and centre for the show
Grey & Temi Dollface

Temi Dollface rocked the runway alongside Grey’s attention-seeking designs, which combined a pretty palette with feminine shape for utter gorgeousness

We at SPICE especially love the way that sheer fabrics and clashing prints combined for a fun take on elegance in Grey’s showcase
Moofa & Muna

Moofa’s Spring/Summer’15 collection kicked off in a palette of head to toe white, before the hue’s counterpart, black began to creep in and compliment it.

A pop of orange came next for a fresh take on next season, brightening up the catwalk and renewing our wardrobe plans.

Here, the designer, Ms Fashola took her bow alongside the amazing Muna, who performed flawlessly to the delight of the guests in attendance
Tzar & Zamir

Zamir teamed with Nigeria’s fashion newcomer, Tzar for an unforgettable showcase that left men in the crown wanting to rethink their entire wardrobe too

Designer Ian Audifferen, who has been making waves on the underground with his cool printed tees, made his label’s formal debut at Runway Fiesta, sending models out in white lips and wearing red hot designs

The young designer explained his prints were inspired by his love for art and nature, and that his brand’s aesthetic draws from sportswear
MiLe & Saeon

This new collection by the brand is titled “Set” and was inspired by mathematics, adding to a cool line up of easy-to-wear pieces with an intriguing impact

Designer Ponmile Olawoye also looked to the ’60s for inspiration, lining her shift dressed and clean silhouettes in rich jewel tones, as well as white and pastel yellow
Kola Kuddus & Oritse Femi

The range saw printed patchwork in blues, greens and purple, set against pure white and bold red pieces

The designer was inspired by urban African city life for his “Afropolitan” collection, which carried an easiness about its lineup
Wana Sambo & Bez

Titled “Modern Elegance,” the collection was inspired by the colour circle of pastels, and included a luxe lineup of crop tops, tees and floor-sweeping hems on dresses and jackets. Here, Ms Sambo took her bow alongside Bez, clearly pround of her Resort’15 collection’s catwalk debut

Monochrome was the predominate colour scheme for the range of menswear, with accents of red popping up throughout

The designer said he aimed to make clothes that spoke for themselves, which we think he achieved with ease via his minimal, sleek designs
Kinabuti & Selebobo

Titled “Khan,” the brand’s new range was inspired by Gengis Khan, and saw strong looks topped with trilbys walk the runway. The lineup of memorable designs played with proportions and included the brand’s signature strong zips and hoods, overall adding to a Kinabuti collection with super strength
Kamokini & Jo El

The 12-piece collection from this new Nigerian label was full of colourful and body-flattering swimsuits, and beach cover-ups which we at SPICE feel we need, immediately

The designer Kambili Ofili-Okonkwo explained she is inspired by art, music and culture, and left us inspired to rock her pieces come Spring/Summer’15
Kenneth Ize & Jaywon

Jaywon accompanied young designer Kenneth Ize’s showcase, warming the crowd up for a smooth collection of low-key wears

The designer focused on a calm palette of white, beige, rust and touches of green, lining garments with long sleeves and a loose-fit

According to the designer, Kenneth Izedonmwen, the collection is a celebration of legends like King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obe, inspired by the highlife of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, when people in African became more Westernized while holding onto their African roots.
And those are just some of the highlights to look out for when Season 2 of Runway Fiesta airs this October. In the meantime, check back for our Style Special from the night, here on the site.
