Genevieve Magazine held its annual Genevieve Magazine Pink Ball on Saturday 18th of October, 2014 at plush Dorchester Event Hall in Victoria Island, Lagos, and welcomed some of the most stylish Nigerian celebrities to strut their stuff for a worthy cause: Breast Cancer.
The theme of the event was shared with October’s internationally recognised Breast Cancer Awareness month, ‘pink,’ and the dress code for this star-studded event had guests wearing any shade of the hue. Of course, some broke the code, interpreting the night’s theme in their own way, but most shone in their ensembles while adhering to the rules and stepping out in different shades of pink.
Below is our best dressed list from the fabulous event – but let us know who your favourite look belongs to in the comments box;
The host for the night, publisher of Genevieve Magazine, Mrs Betty Irabor, stepped out looking the ‘most-est’ in a flowing gown from Fouad Sarkis’ Spring/Summer’14 collection, featuring long sleeves, lace appliqué, tulle and a high neck. Her makeup was done well by Banke Meshida-Lawal, who gave Betty brilliant smoky eyes, rosy cheeks and pink lips. We at SPICE just love how Ms Irabor looked on the night and think she did the night well as hostess.
Our very own Red Carpet host, Elma Godwin toned down her bright pink Reni Smith number with minimal accessories and hidden heels. Of course we’re biased but didn’t she look gorgeous?
Mummy-to-be and stylist, Veronica Odeka looked exquisitely yummy and 100% flawless at the Pink Ball, rocking her growing baby bumb in her pop pink dress and metallic flats. The girl just glowed, don’t you think?
Ruffles, sheer, embellishment and a neckpiece put the edge on MoCheddah’s House of Nwocha look. The star turned eyes and heads with her signature pixie bob – and that cape? Wow! Just lovely, Ms Mo…
Here it is again without the cape, but what do you think – better with or without? Drop your thoughts in the comment box, below….
Dolapo Oni kept things simple and chic with her Elvira Jude layered dress with a short fishtail. We love the fit, the bob and those bright green nails. It was clearly all about the details for Ms Oni.
Tiwa Savage’s look alike, Tonye Garrick showed off her love for the ’20s in a Frock It, Rock It sequin dress, with deep v neckline. The singer’s smokey eyes and finger wave hairstyle just elevated the look and we’re so glad she made an appearance in front of our lens. Such a showstopper!
Media personality, Yvonne Vixen Ekwere also rocked a cape with her gown, self–styling herself to perfection as per usual. We at SPICE love the contrasting black which made for another standout look on the night.
Pinkball brand ambassador, Seyi Shay who was styled by Mrs Betty Irabor in a Poosh gown that skimmed her body, and looked flawless for the night of fun. This dress is so chic and feminine that we wish she’d stay in it forever – she really wore it that well!
Miss MBGN Tourism 2014, Chinenye Adogu also kept her look simple in a fresh Wana Sambo suit. The wide legs and long jacket just looked amazing on the stunner, but the palette is what won it for us.
And our very own presenter, Tallulah Doherty looked great in her self-made sequin dress with fabrics by Kiba. Those glittering touches of gold really stood out on the carpet, but then Ms Doherty is never too far from our gaze, is she…
Moving onto the rule breakers, we have Osas Ighodaro, who turned up looking regal with a touch of pink on her black Toju Foyeh ball gown. Gorgeous or what!
And SPICE TV’s Channel Manager Yoanna “Pepper” Chikezie stood out with her statement neckpiece on a flawless white – carrying the night’s theme only by her bright pink clutch! Obviously we at SPICE are in love with the look, or is it the girl inside it…? Way too close to call.
Designer Ugonna Omeruo of House of Nwocha, who dressed most of the stars on the night in pink, interpreted her own ‘shade of pink’ with a vibrant purple number, that featured details to the back we just couldn’t overlook…
And lastly on our list of stylish stars of the night, here’s Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who stepped out in a sky blue Mai Atafo suit, paired with a pink pocket square and matching socks. Don’t you just love a guy who knows how to play with colour? We forgive you for breaking the dress code Ebuka – just because you looked so good.
