The 2015 72nd annual Golden Globes took place Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, with the live event watched by the world. And why? Not just for the who won what, but the who
wore what, and we at SPICE were taking note.
See below the stand out style from top celebrities at the event;
First up, David Oyelowo who was a Golden Globe nominee dazzled us with glittering navy tux – a brilliant twist on a very classic piece.
….His Selma film director and Golden Globes ‘Best Director’ nominee, Ava DuVernay slayed in a perfectly tailored Zac Posen Autumn/Winter’14 gown and we just loved how she styled the look with a twisted braid up ‘do. Chic!
Nigerian Hollywood actress and Golden Globe nominee, Orange Is The New Black star, Uzo Aduba stepped out in a sparkly halter neck number by Randi Rahm. We just love how Uzo’s style has evolved, and that slicked back hair? Uzo is not playing.
Ms Adaba’s co-star, Danielle Brooks went for a Zac Posen gown for the evening, and although we would have preferred the dress to be a little longer, we can’t help but take note that her makeup was just on point. #Flawless.
Salma Hayek looked just breathtaking in her strapless, ivory and brocade Alexander McQueen gown, which was cinched at the waist for feminine effect, with a bold, gunmetal metallic bel. Her hair and accessories crowned her look and she was every bit the princess.
Wowing us for her big night as ‘Best TV Actress in a Drama,’ Viola Davis rocked a red, strapless Donna Karan Atelier gown and was just stunning! The star’s lipstick completely matched the dress, her hair was tousled to perfection and we just adore the sequins to the bodice of the piece. ‘Best TV Actress on the Red Carpet,’ more like.
Also in red, Heidi Klum looked glamourous in a one-shoulder Versace gown with a sequin-detailed bodice and a front slit, which showed off her tiny, model frame.
Jennifer Lopez chose Zuhair Murad as always and needless to say she looked gorgeous while hitting the carpet as a Golden Globe presenter for the night in this beaded and sparkling gown with a sky-high middle split and a sexy neckline.
Kerry Washington chose an interesting look, with a dress cut to an unusual shape and length. The star pulled off the quirky Mary Katrantzou dress though, completing the look with the right makeup, a pair of Louboutin pumps and a Judith Leiber clutch. #KerryCanDoNoWrong
Actress Reese Witherspoon was ask seen shining on the night, bringing a simple-yet-sexy-glamour in her metallic Calvin Klein column gown. We love how very well tailored this dress is – it fit her like a dream.
As spokesperson for Armani Jr, it was only right for 11-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis, who was also a nominee on the night, to keep it age-appropriate yet fly in a custom Armani dress. The look is super-cute and fun, and Ms Wallis looked just adorable.
Looking a little dull in the makeup department and debuting a new ‘fro, Lupita Nyongó stepped out in a purple, floral haute couture gown by Giambattista Valli. Did we expect more? Maybe, but this is Lupita and she keeps us on our toes.
Kate Hudson looked uber hot as she flaunted her physique in a white, cut-out Versace design. This is an actress who clearly works out and we appreciate the chance to see that through the dress. #Wow!
Emma Stone sizzles in her embellished tomboy ensemble, rocking a strapless jumpsuit to the Globes paired with pointed courts. We love the look and the choice to go bare on accessories. Wise moves Ms Stone. Well played.
Singer Lorde attended the event and also went for something more menswear-inspired, rocking her signature ’90s grungy style via a Narciso Rodriguez suit, a sleek chignon, red lips and a Neil Lane, glittering choker. You have to give it to the girl – she knows her own taste and we love how it played out for this glamorous red carpet.
Newly weds, George and Amal Clooney arrived together on the night and while he looked his usual, gorgeous self, Amal stood out in her Dior couture gown and white opera gloves. We’re not sure we agree with the matching white bag but then when he’s your main accessory, who’s noticing purses?
Comedian Kevin Hart and his fiancee Eniko Parris also did a monochrome moment…
…Though doing it better, was John Legend, who was a winner on the night, and his wife, Chrissy Teigen who came rocking a million dollars worth of jewels on the red carpet, via her sexy Zuhair Murad gown, Harry Kotlar diamond ring and pink and white diamond earrings. These two always bring it.
