When Beyonce Knowles wed Jay Z in 2008, the world was waiting for a glimpse of what she wore – the megastar recently revealing during her acceptance speech at the 2016 CFDAs, that she in fact wore a gown made by her mother.
Saying at the time, as she collected her award as ‘Fashion Icon of the Year’, Beyonce gushed;

However this week, talking about designing that important gown, Tina Knowles revealed that actually, Bey might not have been thrilled with the arrangement or outcome, telling the Today show during an interview;
“Maybe she wasn’t so excited about it at the time, but she’s a sweetheart […] She came back later one day and she said, ‘You know, when my daughter gets married, I’m going to let her pick out her own dress.
She was so sweet to let me do that.”
Said gown was a traditional white wedding dress, with plunging, sweetheart neckline and ruffles skirt – quite a humble look in comparison to the star’s raunchier stage outfits, and fashion-forward red carpet looks. None the less, we’re sure the dress didn’t disappoint Beyonce, her husband or any of the guests who watched them wed in an intimate, private ceremony reportedly held in Jay Z’s New York apartment.
Tina Knowles did go on to talk about dressing Beyonce and her ex-bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams during their time as Destiny’s Child, saying;
“Now we have access to all the beautiful clothes, but back then we didn’t and we would take lemons and turn them into lemonade.”
Indeed.
