Top Eight Trends From Arise Fashion Week

Arise Fashion week may have ended but the trends that came along with it, is about to see the new seasons day light. It’s fresh off the runway, and it’s everything African fashion needs at the moment. Take a look at our top  eight trends from the runway


Asooke is a hand loomed cloth woven by the Yoruba people of  western Nigeria, this fabric was first used in making mens gowns known as Agbada and women’s wrappers known as Iro, it was also used in making men’s hat called fila. This fabric has evolved overtime, as it is the pride of the Yoruba people. This season, Aso-oke was spotted on the runway by various designers. Re’s entire collection was made from Asooke, Asooke is definitely a must have this season.

Enormous summer hats

Summer hats are cool but this gigantic hats Rich Mnisidebuted is way cooler. Summer2018 about to be lit!!

Waist Bags

Waist bags are super stylish and also easy to carry. Rich Mnisi waist bags are made of leather and fur, the Rich Mnisi waist bags is a must have.


Fringe has been in season since spring summer 2017 but DZYn brought a whole new vibe to the fringe trend, long flowing colorful hand made fringe draping down from well tailored outfits.

Prints are a must have, but print suitcases definitely blew our minds away. Chula paired matching suitcases with pants

Socks over heels

This might not appeal to everyone but if you can not afford that channel boots you’ve always dreamed about, this is a good way to make yours. All you need is a pair of court heels and socks. The rest they say is history.

80’s pant


We can never get over this collection, it was a fairy tale presentation, the finely cut and well tailored weddings dresses where to die for,  Uju marshall looked liked a vision in the blue tulle dress she was adorned in. The creative director of Re also closed her show in a tulle mini dress, whats not to love about tulle?

Asooke Mufler

Kenneth Ize and Re made this trend official, the models adorned in their pieces strutted the runway with Asooke mufflers round their neck.
