In the world of fashion were creativity is essential, some designers fade away due to lack of that element, others are reborn while others just never make it back from the past. In an age of so much information, each day, there are a thousand and one fashion houses opening up and also a million and one fashion houses closing down. This industry has shown that without creativity you can not feed your consumers and that might be bad for business, there are also a few designers that have somehow found their way to the top, off course that is only because their pieces show nothing but creativity. Most of these designers are Youths and we say bravo to them, they have somehow managed to stay afloat on the boat of this industry that is filled with a lot long standing existing brands. In our quest to always promote young emerging designers, we have put together a list of top five Nigerian Emerging designers.
A contemporary women’s wear brand founded in 2016 by Desiree Mayowa Iyama, is part of this list. This brand reminds us of an ethical chic urbane lady who is always in touch with her roots. The Creative Director of the brand has put in a lot of efforts and she is finally making a mark, she recently emerged as a winner in @sme100nigeria 25 Under 25 Entrepreneurs Award in Fashion.
this brand makes the cut because the creative director has and eye for detail and outstanding look books. You barely see emerging designers put in their total best but that is not applicable to Frank Aghuno. The brand is known for its architectural looks and also hand painted pieces. Fruche is very feminine and classy. This brand showcased in Lagos fashion design week 2016 and did we say the pieces were outstanding. This is one brand to look forward to, it’s here to give the existing ones a run for their money.
Let’s call the creative director of these brand a bespoke goddess, Fablane by Derin is a fashion label by Derin Fabikun, this brand stands out from others with the cut to measure exotic pieces created for its clients. Fablane by Derin is one of the few brands with a lot of potentials in the future, it gives us a breath of fresh air whenever we stumble on her pieces. Her Instagram feed would leave you gasping for breath.
Mens wear extraordinaire, is the real interpretation of the brand Rick Dusi, this clothing label makes suits geared to a mans needs. The cut, style, fabric and finishing of Rick Dusi’s designs are definitely worth emulating by other brands. Rick Dusi, the creative director has an eye for clean lines.
Last but not least on this list of emerging designers is Imad Eduso, this brand has been caught on almost all the celebrities, what’s not to love about the artistic cut outs on all the outfit made by this emerging clothing brand. To think that this brand just debuted it’s collection in less than two years, we are really anticipating to see what the future holds for the Imad Eduso brand. Dami Osude is the creative brain behind this clothing line, she sure has an eye for great colors and fabric.
