Trend to Try: Beautifully Bronzed Skin

If you are in tune with us here at SPICE, you’ll know that we are thinking all things ‘Flower Power’ this month on the site (see some of our inspiration, here) – and, not only is it the time of the year when flowers are in bloom, but it’s the time when the sun’s out to kiss our skin. Hence, we’ll be rocking the beautiful, bronzed skin look, which is a trend seen on many Spring/Summer’15 runways.

Upholding a love of a healthy, radiant complexion, makeup artists for many designers this season gave a deeper tone to models’ skin, using bronzers and tinted moistursers. Keeping up with minimalism trend (more on that, here) as well as going golden, Tom Pecheux created a safari-chic look for Ralph Lauren’s show, while Dick Page topped his with brown eyeliner and pink lipstick at Michael Kors. Others to take the trend on include Balmain, Isabel Marant, Zac posen, Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney and Giorgio Armani.

…And models looked like they’d holidayed at Balmain, too

But it’s not just models we’ve spied flaunting the look. As always, our favourite stars have also been following the trend;

…And who could miss Beyonce’s beautiful look – even with that dress on we noticed her radiant skin.

Get the Look: Balmain’s Beautiful Bronzed Skin

While make up artist Tom Pecheux went for “iconic Balmain beauty,” by using a cream bronzer and MAC’s “Prep + Prime Essential Oil,” we suggest this easy-to-follow method and a few of our favourite products for goddess-levels of sunned skin.

1. First, start with a foundation that’s one shade darker than your natural complexion – the optimum level of tannage. We at SPICE love NARS’ All Day Luminous Foundation in “Khartoum” (£32 here).

2. Once your foundation is blended (even on the neck – we don’t want to see any lines), grab your bronzer and apply with a fluffily brush. Our favourite is Bobbi Brown’s Bronzing Powder in “deep Golden Brown” ($40, here). Apply  yours  along your hairline, cheekbones and jaw line for definition, as well as a small amount down the middle of your nose – all the places the sun would hit.

3. Lastly, pop a hint of flushed colour to the apples of your cheeks with blusher and finish with a slick of mascara.

Et voila – you’re Balmain-amounts of bronzed! Just show us your attempts at on-trend beauty online, by tagging us in your pic on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram @SPICETVAFRICA.
