Trend to Try: Red Hot Coral Lips

Still on ‘Heat’ this June, Team SPICE are into one of the hottest runway trends going for Summer – coral lips.

Flamingly bold, the hue was spied on Spring/Summer’15 ramps everywhere, which is great news since it’s universally flattering. Hence the shade looked great on models at Tanya Taylor, Clover Canyon, Christophe Guillerme and Richard Chai;

…And Tanya Taylor’s models rocked it too, bringing a sense of ‘fresh’ to monochrome ensembles.

But of course, we’ve seen the stars wearing the hue well, too, including our girl Rih, Viola Davis, Zendaya and ??;

…Jennifer Hudson rocked coral while colour-blocking at the 2015 Oscars…

…And makeup artist Leylarh Cadne also caught our eye, trying the lip trend for a tutorial on nailing the 2015 AMVCAs.

Get the Look: Leylarh Cadne’s Pink-Fused Coral Lips

Want to ditch the red lippie in favour of a coral one? Well, great idea, because just like it has the above beauties, coral gives a warm, healthy glow to any skin tone and will leave you looking your hottest yet.

Leylarh Cadne teamed up with BeautyRevNG and Grey Velvet to create a spectacular pink-fused coral lip look ahead of the AMVCAs, and this is how you can achieve it at home;

1. First, prep your lips with lip balm. If they’re dry or flaky, try exfoliating them gently first with a little sugar.

2. Next, skip the lip liner and grab your lipstick, as this look is best left slightly ‘imperfect,’ for a relaxed, “I didn’t try too hard” sort of finish.

3. Using a lip brush or directly from the bullet, apply your coral lippie across your pout. We at SPICE love the one Ms Cadne used – Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Liquid Lipstick inElectic Coral” ($20 here) – as well as Revlon’s Ultra HD Lipstick in “HD Tulip” ($8.99, here).

4. Blot lips with a tissue to remove excess colour, then finish with a dot of gloss to add some plump and shine.

Are you on board with the oral lip trend? Wearing it already, maybe? Share your coral pouts with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @SPICETVAFRICA.
