Trevor Stuurman & Other Top SA Creatives Shoot Denim for G-Star Raw

Top photographer, Trevor Stuurman and other South African cool kids, including stylist Gabrielle Kannemeye and illustrator Jade Klara, have been enlisted to shoot denim on the streets of SA, for an exhibition sponsored by highstreet label, G-Star Raw.

The 3-day pop-up exhibit, which launched on October 1st and ends today, shows off a series of images from the creatives, who are based in Cape Town and Johannesburg, exploring South Africa’s jeans culture and acting as a visual response to G-Star’s Spring/Summmer’15 campaign question, “How do you wear yours?”

Entitled “How We Wear Ours,” the images have been in showcase at the Kalashnikovv Gallery in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, and were curated by the gallery’s owners, Murray Turpin and Matthew Dowdle.

The stylish Mr Stuurman – who is style reporter at Elle South Africa and who has been voted GQ’s Best-dressed reader – shared some behind-the-scenes images from his series for the exhibition on Instagram, captioning;

“Photography is truly an international language. Global denim brand @gstarraw commissioned me to shoot a photographic series documenting jeans culture in today’s South Africa.

Team SPICE love the shots and reckon that anyone who happens to be in Jo’Berg today should make their way to the exhibition to see the rest of “How We Wear Ours” upclose.
