Tuesday 10: Super Sunscreens to Protect your Skin

While we all love the sun, we unitedly hate to sweat and have our clothes sticking to our skin, but add being sunburnt to your list of summertime pet hates and you’ll have named the biggest worst nightmare of the season – hence our Tuesday 10 this week is a rundown of the best of SPFs; super sunscreens to protect  your skin with.

Though not all of us are lucky enough to be somewhere under Brazil’s sun, cheering on our boys during the World Cup, sun damage can be found everywhere, under every climate, and so you’re best to include an SPF to your regime, daily. And, never one to leave out sensitive skins, our list includes formulas for the sun sensitive amongst us, too;

1. Coppertone’s Sport Spray SPF 30, $10

A spray-on sunscreen (#Yay! ) is at the top of our list, since the feel of this mist on the skin is so beautiful and easy to apply. Though we want protection, we still don’t want to be sticky and so the fact that this SPF is fast-drying, sweat-proof and smells super good means that with a couple of sprats we’ll  have matte skin and a refreshed feeling every time.

2. Banana Boat’s Ultra Sunblock Lotion SPF 30, $14.99

The fact that this can be used on every member of the family – that’s those who are young and those who are old – is a bit of a godsend and a bestselling feature of this product. We love that the lotion is absorbed quickly into the skin too, so you can apply your protection and be right on your way.

3. Dermalogica’s Super Sensitive Face Block SPF30 , $48

Apart from being great for sensitive skin, this great product from skin experts Dermalogica goes on smoothly and moisturises the skin really nicely, too. Though it is highly priced, we don’t mind because it performs so well in return.

4. Kiss My Face’s Face Factor SPF 30 for Face & Neck , $25.78

One of the drawbacks of using sunscreen is the need for regular re-applying, but with this product, we don’t have to do that so often due to its thicker formulation, which lasts longer on the skin. We hear it is great for acne and irritation prone skin too, so those fearing  greasy, clogging feeling shouldn’t shy from this SPF.

5. Dr. Denese’s SPF 30 Defense Day Cream, $75

Not only are you paying for the intense research and cool science that has gone into this product, you are also paying for a translucent foundation and moisturiser all rolled into one – so those who love multitasking products, this one is for you. Sunscreen that helps with our makeup by giving skin a matte finish for a base? We’ll take two, please.

6. Blue Lizard’s Australian Sunscreen, $18.42

White residue is a definite sunscreen drawback. Thankfully though, this product by Blue Lizard leaves out the white layer found with most average SPFs and protects us from all types of sun rays, too – all while working for up to 10 hours. #Perfect.

7. Neutrogena’s Sensitive Skin Sunblock, $21.75

Providing a great, lightweight formula that is kind to sensitive skin that’s prone to burning and itching in the sun, is this perfect product from Neutrogena. Be careful when applying this around the eyes though, as it may irritate the skin there if you’re not careful.

8. Solbar AVO, $12.46

We all know of the perils of Titanium Dioxide but Avobenzone is gentler on the skin due to expert and well-researched science. This product is also great for oily skin as it has a non-greasy forumla that lets the pores breath while shielding skin from the sun.

9. La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios Mineral Tinted Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50, $33.50

Backed by technology that boasts a unique combination of a mineral sun filter and Cell-OX Shield antioxidants, this expert product provides advanced UVA/UVB protection and a tinted shade-matching formula that is suitable for the face and body. Another bonus is that it’s a super thin and delicate fluid (almost invisible) so won’t stain your clothes, plus at factor 50, it provides high protection from the sun, too.

10. Skinceuticals’ Sport UV Defense SPF 50, $40

For those planning on exercising or playing sports out under the sun, please make sure you slather this on before you do. Not only does this product protect the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays, but it also has some unique ingredients that protect the skin from extreme environments too (which also age the skin) while being sweat and rub resistant. Cool or what?
