Vogue Magazine is out to debauch theories that Punk may be dead, enlisting Ethiopian, New York-based artist, Awol Erizku to shoot some of the best Afro Punk hairstyles around.
The models – all 28 of them rocking an outlandishly cool style of hair, in most cases with rebellious accessories to match – were spied at the 10th annual Afropunk Festival in New York last week, and lensed to create a lineup of portraits and tresses to lust over. Model Imaan Hammam is also spied in the mix, wearing big, centre-parted curls and a bad ass attitude.
Dreadlocks, braids and multi-hued afros all feature on men and women in the series, and we at SPICE are pleased to know the Afro Punk movement is still very much alive.
