As events begin to kick off in the wake of Summer, we at SPICE have our eye on the stars who continue to shine in new season styles and set new trends to keep up with.
But from a Lagosian star’s festival-ready look to the uber glamorous looks of Chanel Iman and Rihanna on the red carpet, here’s our 10 favourite looks from last week;
Sporting a cool, grey hair ‘do, Nigerian singer Seyi Shay stepped out for the Star Trek event on Thursday last week in Lagos, wearing a Wana Sambo jumpsuit and bowler hat. We have to say, we love the boho vibes Ms Shay brought…
Super style star, Solange Knowles rocked one of Africa’s leading designers, Maki Oh so well at the BET Upfront 2015 event in New York last week, wearing a colour-blocked piece from the designer’s Autumn/Winter’15 collection – the “Omi,” which Ms Knowles paired with matching mules. This was a comfortable look for Solange, who was playing DJ for the night, and we were super impressed to find one of our favourite designers on her radar. Go Maki Oh!
Rocking seven fabulous outfits in one day while making her radio rounds in New York on April 20th, actress Blake Lively stopped hearts in one of the best looks of the week, wearing a colour-blocked Roksanda Lockwood dress and coat from the brand’s Resort’15 collection. Styled with a pair of Christian Louboutin “Front Double” pumps, Ms Lively proved her wardrobe stays popping. Impressive.
At the TIME 100 Gala, celebrating the 100 most influential people in the world, held on Tuesday, April 21st, Nigerian activist Oby Ezekwesili was also honoured by TIME, and stepped out looking classy, pretty and sophisticated in a skirt and blouse made from traditional Nigerian lace. Represent!
Another influential star who was honored as well, Laverne Cox wore a show-stopping Marc Bouwer gown in green, which the actress owned with her shoulder length, blonde ‘do and striking makeup. Werk…
And of course, we couldn’t leave out Ms Rihanna, who was one of the night’s performers and an honouree. The beauty walked the red carpet in a hot, fuscia pink Marchesa gown with an extreme sweetheart neckline, paired with simple black court shoes. The girl can do no wrong.
Over at the Daytime Emmy Awards held on April 26th, top model and talk-show host Tyra Banks wore a black Bryan Hearns look with sheer panelling, which obviously suited her perfectly. We at SPICE are also loving this pixie crop on the star, but with those cheekbones, Tyra really can pull of any hairstyle.
At the Radio Disney Awards held on April 26th in California, Dsney star Zendaya Coleman looked super cute in a Peter Pilotto look from the label’s Spring/Summer’15 collection, paired with bright yellow Christian Louboutin heels. It’s like whenever Zendaya goes anywhere she looks good and proves she knows how to have fun with her fashion…
Getting serious though, over at The White House Correspondents Dinner held the night before on April 25th, supermodel Chanel Iman served face and all kinds of gorgeousness in a pale blue Zuhair Murad dress. We loved the plunging neckline and how the star styled her hair for maximum impact.
And speaking of impact, just look at actress and style icon, Tracee Ellis Ross, who looked regal for the night by coiffing her curls into a slick back ‘do and wearing a red gown from Honor. The gown even featured a cape. Top that? It’s not possible.
