#WeekendWardrobe: Make like Toke, Genevieve & Angela Simmons & Go Jump Into a Jumpsuit

It’s the weekend (thank God) and we’re thinking about style, and – if you’re stuck – why not opt for a jumpsuit? Easy to wear, the one-piece wonder can simply be slipped on, and with a swish of accessories you’re good to go.

And this goes for whatever event you’re attending, whether you plan to end this week by ‘taking it easy’ or partying a little too hard – a jumpsuit or romper, or whatever you’re calling it will allow you to move comfortably and look effortlessly stylish, too.

Spied on all of our favourite celebs, the 70’s trend has made a huge comeback on the style scene, as proved by stars like Solange and Beyonce and everyone in between, who even wear theirs to step out on the red carpet;

As one of Nollywood’s most recognisable names, our own Genevieve Nnaji took hers to the Toronto International Film Festival and turned heads, looking classy, contemporary and chic. Her on-trend, all-white tailored jumpsuit by Nigerian label, Andrea Iyamah went down a storm with us at SPICE, and we just love how the star kept her accessories minimal, allowing the jumpsuit to speak for itself.

Also looking pretty in a playful paisley print number, fashion designer and Rev Run’s ‘daddy’s girl’, Angela Simmons rocked a colourful, badeau version while visiting Lagos last December. Paired with open-toe slippers, the young star wowed and had us reaching for a romper in no time.

Lastly, more weekend wardrobe inspiration comes from Toke Makinwa, who is certainly no stranger to a jumpsuit. The media personality, who has been captured wearing quite a few one-pieces of late, looked gorgeous in this tye-dyed look worn to Jumia’s fashion and dinner event earlier this month, and now we are out to recreate it.

Feeling as inspired as we are? Then simply shop our top five picks, below;
