Colour choice is very important when deciding on an outfit to wear for the weekend, and while there’s a whole rainbow of shades to choose from, we at SPICE are here to help you narrow down to one on-trend hue: Yellow, as seen sported the globe over at the moment, in the wake of the 2014 World Cup.
One of the colours of Brazil’s flag and its infamous football team’s shirts, care-free yellow is pretty big at the moment and takes over as the shade du jour, looking great on many skin tones – from fair to dark – and instantly brightening your look wherever you plan to go this weekend (whether that’s a football pitch in Rio, by a TV in a bar or shopping, since your man’s busy watching the games).
And, as usual, many of our favourite stylish celebrities have been spotted wearing stand out yellows – from Beyonce and Solange, to Yvonne Nelson and Tiwa Savage, so you know it’s a covetable colour that should be in everyone’s wardrobe this season;
Nigerian-British actress and fashion blogger Ashley Madekwe, looked stunning in this yellow silk Diane von Furstenburg jumpsuit that flattered her fair skin tone. Paired with a Chanel belt, strappy sandals, slicked back hair and red lips, the Revenge star showed us once again why many people look to her for style inspiration.
Another actress demonstrating how to sport yellow is the beautiful Keke Palmer, who wore a striking tone to the premiere of Think like a Man Too in Hollywood last week. The 20 year old, (yes 20, we’re just as shocked as you are) wore a sleeveless, low V midi dress that flaunted her cleavage in a sexy yet subtle way, which she complimented with silver Louboutins and a trendy purple lip.
And lastly, we have the queen of curves – the infamous Toolz Oniru. The gorgeous radio and TV personality turned heads at the Ebonylife TV launch in a bright, velvet maxi dress which hugged her coca-cola bottle figure. The gown by Liam Fashion Agency was fitted to perfection against her chocolate skin, leaving Ms Oniru beaming and looking radiant – and us totally in awe!
