Planning a trip can be an exciting yet overwhelming task; you have to consider expenses, the destination, your method of transport, where to stay – and last but not least, the clothing to pack.
Well, for our last week thinking of travel here at SPICE, we’re emphasising what a must it is to dress right for the season and be on-trend whilst away, focusing on the perfect fabric (yes, fabric!) to help you do it: lace.
The feminine material, which was once only set aside for lingerie, is now used to make a wide variety of garments – from dresses to skirts and tops – and we couldn’t be more inspired, especially since some of our favourite celebrities have been spied wearing lace and turning heads all around the globe;
African-American actress, Gabrielle Union headed to the Hollywood Premiere of Think Like A Man Too, which she stars in, looking sexy in all noir. The 41-year-old beauty rocked a Dolce & Gabbana black lace two-piece that flashed a bit of her toned midriff, and complimented it with strapped sandal heels, a sleek, swept hair ‘do and bold red lips. We are definitely fans of the look.
Also spied in the trend, we still cannot get over Nigerian singer Waje, who looked amazing in a yellow Bebe lace dress at Vlisco’s “Hommage a l’art” collection launch in Lagos last Summer. The stunning star looked youthful and utterly dazzling in her skater-style sleeveless dress which sat well on her curvy figure. We at SPICE really love how she donned straight, long tresses, platform heels and the right amount of accessories to give her a stylish ‘girl about town’ look.
Lastly, still in Lagos, PR girl Tania Omotayo (aka WizKid’s girlfriend) attended the Fashpa Day Out event last month, sporting fiery red lace. The fashionista – as judged from her Instagram – wore a lace top and matching skirt from the online store she’d headed to the event for, and although it was see-through and showed some bra underneath, it still looked totally demure. We also think her short haircut gave her an overall elegant vibe.
